Coffee filter butterflies

Materials:

• pipe cleaners (assorted colors)
• coffee filters (large size)
• water-based markers
• small spray bottle filled with water (optional)

1. Give each Guide a coffee filter.
2. Color the coffee filter with markers.
3. Hold up the coffee filter, and spray with water or dip fingers in water and shake them at the coffee filter. Watch as the colors spread and run together.
4. Once the filter is dry, bunch it in the middle and wrap a pipe cleaner around it.
5.  Make sure you leave a little extra pipe cleaner to make two antennas.

Dryer Lint Clay

Start saving that dryer lint now and then mix up a batch of clay. Not only will you make some unique clay, this is an exceptional way to recycle.

Materials Needed:

• 2 Cups Dryer Lint (Lightly Packed)
• 1/3 Cup White Glue
• 1 Tablespoon Dish Washing Soap
• 1/4 - 1/3 Cup Warm Water

Instructions:
In a medium sized bowl, mix together the white glue, dish washing soap, and a 1/4 cup of the water. Once it is mixed well, slowly add the 2 cups of dryer lint, tearing into small pieces before you add it.

Mix this all together, kneading if necessary. If the mixture is too dry, you can add more water, a little at a time, until your lint clay is easy to work with.

Store your clay covered to keep it moist or let it sit out to air dry for several days.

Home made clay

Believe it or not, you can make clay using slices of bread!

Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: 20 minutes

Here's How:

1. Cut the crust off 7 pieces of bread.
2. Break the bread into tiny pieces and put them in a medium-sized bowl.
3. Add 7 teaspoons of white glue and mix thoroughly.
4. Add 1/2 teaspoon of water and 1/2 teaspoon dish washing detergent.
5. Knead your mixture until you get a nice clay consistancy.
6. Make sculptures out of your clay and let air dry.

Tips:

1. If your mixture is too dry, add a bit more water.
2. Air drying usually takes about 24 hours.
3. Don't eat this dough!

• Fold a piece of cardboard in half so that the picture will fit onto the front part with a little room to spare all around.

Making a felt mouse

materials needed

• felt squares
• 1 pompom
• glitter pen
• craft glue
• two pipe cleaners

method

1. Make a template of the mouse pattern.
2. Pin the cut template onto the felt.1 color for the base one for the ears.
3. Cut around the template the shape into the felt.
1. Also cut the two parallel line on the oval shape.
4. Push the ears through the two shots of the base.
5. Glue the ears onto the base.
6. Paint on glitter dots or a pattern to the base.
7. Glue on eyes
8. Now glue on the nose.
9. Twist the two pipe cleaners together.
10. Thread the twisted pipe cleaners through under the base felt and between the lower ears felt.
11. The end of which actually is the tail.
12. Glue the pipe clear into the slot between the two pieces of felt.

To dye eggs brown

Different onion skins actually give different colors.

• Brown dye from onion skins.
• 3 eggs

1. Put cooled dye and eggs into a small saucepan.
2. Place over a medium heat.
3. Bring to the boil.
4. reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
1. or until eggs are red.
5. Cooking time will depend on the color of the eggs.
6. Remove eggs with a slotted spoon.
7. Place on a wire rack to cool.

Making Bubbles

You need

• A flat tray,
• A bubble wand
• Dish washing liquid
• a little water
• glucose

1. Place 200 mils of dish wash detergent onto a flat tray.
2. Pour int the liquid 50 grams of glucose.
3. .Add a little water and mix the water into it.
4. Mix together until the glucose has been fully blended.
1. When mixing the liquids do not whip the liquid.
1. Too many little bubbles created creates problems with blowing the large bubbles.
5. Wait until the bubbles have dispersed and dip the bubble wand into the mix.
6. Lift the wand up and either move the wand around or blow the bubbles.
