Tissue paper flowers # 1

Equipment

  • Scissors
  • Green pipe cleanersColoured tissue paper
  • Green florist tape [optional]
  • pinking shears or other decorative shears [optional]
  • Colored markers are optional
Directions
  1. Stack two or three squares of tissue paper on top of each other on a flat work surface.
  2. Either cut these into different sizes or use the squares of the same size.
  3. Wrap end of pipe cleaner around the centre of the folded tissue to hold the tissue tightly - the green pipe cleaner is also the stem of the flower.
  4. Now is the time to wrap the green florist tape around the pipe cleaner.
    1. Start by wrapping the tape several times around the base of the flower. As you wrap going down ward the tape ideally covers 2/3 to 1/2 of the last laid layer of tape.
    2. Gently pull open the tissue paper to make the bloom open.
  5. Encourage experimentation by stacking two tissue colours together.
  6. Decorate the tissue paper by
    1.  cutting the ends edges of the tissue petal
    2.  using the markers to colour the petals.
      1. flick a little water on the petals then hang the flower upside down in order to dry.
    3. Using a very light spray spray the petals from a distance.
      1. Allow to dry.
