making an envelope for the card

This is the template for making an envelope.

Materials needed
  • The card that will be going into the envelope.
  • Template of envelope
  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Rule
  • Pencil
Method used.
  1. Near a corner edge of the paper draw a 2.5 cm [1 inch] line down -along side the paper
  2. Now draw a 2.5 cm [1 inch] line down the other corner edge of the paper
    1. There are now two intersecting lines.
  3. Place your card near the inside corner edge of the intersecting lines.
    1.  0.5 cm away from these lines as this will allow room to slip the card in and out of the envelope.
  4. Draw a third and fourth  line at 0.5 cm away from the card.
  5. Measure the area from the draw line at the top of the card to the bottom of the card line.
  6. Draw another square shape the same size attached to the card sized box.  This is the back flap of the envelope.
  7. One more thing to measure and that is the other side flap.
  8. Cut out the outline - not the fold lines though.
  9. Fold all the fold lines.
  10. The side Flaps get glued.
  11. The back side is pressed onto the glued side flaps.
    1.  Leave to dry before you place the card in your envelope.
  12. Fold over the top flap.
    1. Glue if necessary - or simply tuck the flap into the back of your envelope.
